8th Grade D.C Trip: By Nikhil P. and Ben F.

For the upcoming 8th GRADERS:

You may have some questions about where we are staying, where we are visiting, or other topics, and we are here to answer them. The 8th Grade staying in the Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC.  We will be visiting many famous monuments and museums such as The Lincoln Memorial, the WWII memorial, and much of the National Mall.  There will be deviations due to the recent government shutdown such as no ability to use the bathroom since the bathrooms in the National Mall are under the federal funding. This trip is not fully just memorials though. On some days we will be going to places like escape rooms and bowling alleys. The hotel overall looks nice, and you can find more photos by clicking here or by searching up “Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC downtown.” in your personal web browser. The bus ride there will be completely phone-free and on the bus ride back we will only get our phones for the last 30 mins-45 mins of the trip. You will only get 30 minutes of phone time every night. If you are using your cell phone to call parents, scroll on tiktok, or other things, you have to stay in the lobby or a public space with a teacher. You cannot use your phone while in your room. This hotel has 4.1 stars based off of google reviews, and it seems very nice and a great space to spend our time in. The room has a TV and other amenities. You may think you should sneak in a phone or other electronic device, but there are TV’s at the hotel that have Youtube, Live-Tv, etc. It really isn’t worth it to sneak in your phone, especially knowing a few people that did it didn’t even use it that much. Even though our trip unfortunately was during a government shutdown where many museums and places were closed, the teachers and substitute places we went to were awesome and still gave us an incredible D.C. experience. The museums our class went to were the white house experience and the holocaust museums along with countless memorials about people like Martin Luther King Jr. On top of all these places, we also visited Senator Murphy, who was quite busy at the time.
