Interview: Dr.Ting

Hello Readers,

This is an interview with the one and only Dr.Ting! She has led  (and continues to do so) the robotics team and department for many years. She is the Director of Computer Science & Engineering at Browning. She has also inspired a lot of kids to get involved in robotics at Browning and get more involved, and it was my absolute honor to interview her! This interview was about the overall robotics team and herself. So sit back on your school chair (or couch, or desk, etc if you are reading at home) and enjoy.

Joseph: What is it like to work in the robotics department?

Dr.Ting: A lot of fun because you get a different challenge every year you get to solve a problem.

Joseph: What do you think of the current robots for (Team) Ultro?

Dr.Ting: I think that we have one of the best robots in the world and I think that we competed very well in worlds.

Joseph: What do you think about younger kids (M.S) joining the Robotics Team?
Dr.Ting: I think that the current robotics team is very welcoming and some of the youngest members have some of the best ideas if you have the passion and the strive you can do it.

Joseph:  How do you think that 2020 affected the Ultro team

Dr.Ting: It affected a lot  is very extremely hard to learn so when we got back in 2021 it was some form of a “Relearning” year.

Joseph: When do you feel that you connect with the team best

Dr.Ting: Just the share amount of time that they spend in the room, you get to learn about their interests

Joseph: How do you feel when you are bonding with other people at Browning

Dr.Ting: It’s almost like you’re passionate about the same thing conversations flow a lot easier

Joseph: What do you think of the current Steam program?

Dr.Ting: I think that it’s a culmination of the things that you learn in the classroom like physics, math, and science, all put into this one robot and program.
